Visual Visits™: A Provider's Guide to Training for Virtual Physical Assessments

Self-paced

$50 Enroll

Full course description

The VisualVisits™ physical assessment telehealth training video series has been created as an educational resource based on evidence-based practices. It is crafted to instruct healthcare professionals (CNM, DO, MD, NP, PA, RN), educators, and medical and nursing students. The goal is not merely to acquaint them with the basic principles of conducting telehealth visits; it is to significantly extend their capability in telehealth by including an array of physical assessments that can be effectively performed via videoconferencing.

This video series has ten different content modules covering topics including etiquette and HIPAA considerations during telehealth visits, what you and the patient will need to conduct a physical assessment via telehealth, basic vital signs and general assessment, and then 7 modules, each focusing on a different body system (e.g., HEENT, Cardiovascular, Musculoskeletal, Neurological, etc.). These videos are designed in two parts. The first section provides education and instruction on the skills needed to perform the appropriate physical assessment. Then, a Certified Telehealth Provider and Educator from the University of Michigan demonstrates these skills on a simulated patient. This VisualVisits™ telehealth training series also includes a Facilitator’s Guide for using this video series when instructing the telehealth physical assessment skills to larger groups and handouts for note-taking by participants watching the videos.

Organizations or institutions wanting to use VisualVisits™ should contact Tina Suntres at tsuntres@umich.edu.
